The latest Gallup poll was just released and we now have data on the state of our workplace and employees’ well-being. To no surprise…the data shows employees are chronically stressed and companies are missing the mark on tending to well-being.

Overall, companies are missing the mark on how to create a culture that facilitates a real nourishing of the individual which has a ripple effect on their output, feelings of satisfaction and fulfillment in their role, cohesion within their teams and ultimately positively impacts the financials and mission of the company. I know it’s difficult and time consuming to tune into each employee, and I’m not suggesting we get rid of important hierarchical structures, boundaries and a professional demeanor, I’m saying we have to rewrite what it means to employ people. It’s a responsibility. A great responsibility. And the more we take care of our employees, the more we take care of ourselves as leaders.

It begins with recruitment and ensuring you’re finding a fit for the role and culture. Once that box is checked, it’s about ensuring they are set up for success by communicating what the expectations are and the accountability measures that are in place to help them succeed. Then, it’s time to tune into their well-being. What can the company do to provide resources that take care of them? And to make that just as big of a priority as hitting revenue goals each year.

We know it costs 4x the person’s salary to replace them if they quit unexpectedly or are underperforming in their job. There are so many ways to cut that off at the pass.

It is my life’s mission to work with executives and HR teams to help them in this area. This is a new area for corporations and they’re not expected to know how to hit the mark here. That’s why Inzencity exists, to provide the “what” and the “how” for employee well-being.
